Perform Auto Ranging

The auto range function allows automatic setting of the operating region (voltage and current). It also provides a better resolution of the measurement reading without changing the operating region manually.

Select the Enable Auto Range checkbox to enable auto ranging. If the measured voltage/current value is less than the range, the voltage/current range will be changed to the nearest range.

The algorithm to determine the changes of the existing range is based on the following tables.

Voltage range

  2 V 20 V
Measured voltage ≤ 2 V No change Change to 2 V range
Measured voltage > 2 V Change to 20 V range No change

Current range

  1 µA 10 µA 100 µA 1 mA 10 mA 120 mA
Measured current ≤ 1 µA No change Change to 1 µA Change to 1 µA Change to 1 µA Change to 1 µA Change to 1 µA
Measured current ≤ 10 µA Change to 10 µA No change Change to 10 µA Change to 10 µA Change to 10 µA Change to 10 µA
Measured current ≤ 100 µA Change to 100 µA Change to 100 µA No change Change to 100 µA Change to 100 µA Change to 100 µA
Measured current ≤ 1 mA Change to 1 mA Change to 1 mA Change to 1 mA No change Change to 1 mA Change to 1 mA
Measured current ≤ 10 mA Change to 10 mA Change to 10 mA Change to 10 mA Change to 10 mA No change Change to 10 mA
Measured current ≤ 120 mA Change to 120 mA Change to 120 mA Change to 120 mA Change to 120 mA Change to 120 mA No change
